The customer is pursuing a vision to be a leading Indonesian mining and energy group by continuously expanding and improving its coal mining and non-coal mining operations to create a solid and complete range of its integrated pit to the power supply chain. It has subsidiaries serving each part of the supply chain, each of which is treated similarly to the third-party contractors.
Cloud Comrade along with its team approached Adaro and the customer was looking for professional services and managed services provider with a comprehensive Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and SAP competency. The organisation wanted to deploy a cloud infrastructure to support host SAP workloads. The key objective was to host the application in a cloud hosting environment and maintain the infrastructure to ensure the platform’s availability, performance, and functionality.
Cloud Comrade team of GCP certified solution architects and SAP Basis consultants conducted an exhaustive study of the existing SAP application and defined the processes, procedures, and operational responsibilities for delivering the precise infrastructure and 24x7x365 managed services for the system.
The solution was designed for fault tolerance by distributing, load-balancing, and clustering the workload across multiple zones. Google Compute Engine was used to deliver virtual machines running in Google’s innovative data centers and worldwide fiber network. To provide durable and high-performance block storage for the Google Cloud Platform, Google Persistent Disk has been used. To allow world-wide storage and retrieval of any amount of data at any time, Google Cloud Storage has been adopted. Google Cloud SQL and Google Cloud Virtual Network provide a fully managed database service and a comprehensive set of Google-managed networking capabilities. Google Cloud DNS, maintains high availability and it is a cost-effective way to make the applications and services applicable to the users.
The availability of SAP system improved tremendously with the distribution of the workload across multiple GCP zones. With a multi-layered security approach, the customer was able to meet the stringent security and compliance requirements thus increasing the improved security and compliance. The customer was able to scale the system easily to meet the demand from their users with GCP Compute engine custom instances.
